I received an email about the upcoming AAFP conference, specifically that

"The American Academy of Family Physicians says Yes to McDonald's, Yes to Free Lunch, No to No Free Lunch" ( www.nofreelunch.org )."

The potential exhibitors are told on the AAFP website that "seven dedicated exhibit hall hours provide you with the opportunity for one-on-one access to these high-prescribing, qualified buyers!"

I noticed Wyeth and Abbott Labs among those who will have "quality time" with our American family physicians. I am very disappointed in this , a group that has gone so far to issue a statment that " All magazines and literature in the waiting room can be examined to ensure that there are no unwanted advertisements or promotions of formula.",

I am wondering if there are any members with AAFP on Lactnet that can shed some light on how CocaCola and McDonald's sponsorship is somehow ethical to family health? And is the exhibition and collaboration by Wyeth and Abbott NOT contradictory to the position on breastfeeding by the AAFP?

Curious,
