Jennifer,
The red premie nipple is softer and flows faster to accomodate the weaker
suck of the premature infant. Our hospital is no longer using them much with
premies since the flow is too fast.  I would suggest a slow or variable flow
nipple such as the Haberman Feeder. Your technique of pacing the baby and
burping frequently is helpful.

Would an appropriate suggestion to this mother be to use the =
red, hospital-supplied preemie nipples on the bottles we use at night?  =
I assume these are slower-flow nipples.
