Hi Jenny and all

I may be wrong but could this be referring to the balance of different fatty
acids in the mother's diet during lactation and the research showing the
effects on the baby's brain development (and new research suggesting
possibly function as well) and retinal development?? Could it be just
coincidence a M/J (I assume Mead Johnson??) rep dropped it off?? I'm
sceptical of that too though!!

Worth asking the LC what the content of her lecture is before reporting
anything - the name of the seminar may be a clever ploy to get some in who
really need to know about the DHA availability in human milk and the
comparison to non-human milk. Also to those who can influence the mother's
maternal and post-natal nutrition.

cheers
Del

Subject: lactation consultants invitation

The M/J rep dropped into our hospital LC office and left an invitation for
lactation consultants to attend a dinner and lecture to be given by an IBCLC
in Madison Wisconsin, on "Improving Maternal and Infant DHA Nutrition". How
can this happen? I thought that it was a conflict of interest and unethical
for an IBCLC to be working for a formula company. Promoting one of their
products even though its not formula is still supporting a company that
sabotages breastfeeding at every opportunity.
