Since I did not recall any of these points from any chemistry classes I've
taken, I've spent half the day looking into this topic.  Distilled water
WILL boil.  In fact, the experiments done to determine the boiling point of
water were conducted using distilled water.  I have not been able to locate
any literature about distilled water exploding...even the MSDS for
distilled water does not have this as a warning.  I'm not sure where these
myths came from.
