I really enjoyed Marsha Walker’s comment about the many trainings. I have been endlessly thankful for being able to run and intern program. Am I good at it? Not necessarily, do I love it, absolutely! It is so great to be able to have those who want to become IBCLCs get practical experience with clients. I have learnt as much form my Interns as they learn from me. This is what keep our practice up to date. As they study they ask questions and go through each case study with a critical eye. That is the best way to learn.
I hope many can receive that kind of experience. Trying to set out by yourself as an IBCLC can be very difficult. Writing an entry level exam is one thing but being confident in seeing clients is another whole new ball game
