Hi All,
Kim, it sounds to me as if this is normal baby behavior. I don't know much
about Phenobarb...does it make baby sleepy? Is this why baby was sleeping
so much at night?

This mom should know that waking 2-3 times a night for feeds is normal, but
that it may not be "feeds" the baby is looking for (this is just an added
bonus!). This baby, and many others, may be waking simply because it is
normal to do so, and it is another way to get close to mom. How much closer
can you get than when nursing? :)

All my babies woke at least a couple times a night for as long as they were
nursing. They would occasionally (give me a break) go for a few weeks
sleeping all night long (9 - 10 hrs). My supply would adjust, and then
they'd be back to waking again. PJ (21 mo old now) still nurses 2-4 times a
night. We just tend to sleep through those seesions, now. SOmetimes I wake
up a bit to switch sides, or I may wake to find him latched on with me not
knowing when he did. :)

I would reassure this mom that, as long as all else is good with the baby,
not to worry. IF baby is not sleeping with her now, I would suggest that
she do this, it will help her get more sleep! If she does not know how to
lie down and nurse, teach her. (I never could do that with my 2nd
baby...hurt my back for some reason, but can do it easily with the 3rd...go
figure)
It really sounds to me as if her baby is exhibiting normal 7 mo old
behavior. It just seems odd to her because she hasn't experienced it before.

Take care!
Hope this helps,
