Hi everyone, as I stated previously. Joan Meek is HIGHLY respected in the
State of Florida. I sent her a letter asking about the situation. This was
her response...

Debbie,

Yes, I am well aware of all of the discussions about this. I am the
editor-in-chief of the publication (there was a paid author), however, I have
written, rewritten, and edited the content of this publication for the past 2
years, along with many others. Ross had absolutely nothing to do with any of
the content of the book. They had zero input prior to publication.

I am very distressed that the AAP allowed the marketing department to permit
Ross to alter the cover of the book and distribute it, and I would encourage
everyone who has equal concerns to voice those to the AAP. No, they did not
discuss it with me, any of the contributors, or the breastfeeding section of
the AAP. We were as shocked as everyone else to see the "Ross" version of
the cover and to hear about the marketing decisions.

I am, however, equally distressed about the comments that I have heard that
the book must be "trash" and must promote formula or otherwise Ross would not
want it. I am pleased with the content of the book and feel it will be a
useful resource to mothers. It is most unfortunate that the book is being
dismissed as "tainted" before it was ever released.

Joan
