Could this be Mondor's disease? A thrombosis in the blood vessel of
the breast running along the surface of the breast from the midline
to the nipple? I had a client with this many years ago, second baby,
who told me that it had been worse with the first, and in fact the
skin on the breast had split due to the pressure. With the second
baby, we made sure that the breast did not become too full as the
milk came in, and she went on to breastfed very
successfully. Whether the cause would be breastfeeding, I don't
know. Certainly the blood supply to the breasts increases during
pregnancy and lactation, but this is physiologically normal. I'll be
interested to see if others have any other ideas.

Subject: Thicker blood veins from long term BF?

Permission to post: The mother breastfed her son for 22 months till
he weaned himself 4 years ago. She has been examined on the breasts
with infrared ray by a doctor. The doctor said the blood veins in her
breasts were thicker, which may be the result from long time
breastfeeding. Does anyone has references or similar cases? What can
this be? Any inputs will be appreciated. Thanks Yasmin
