Liz, saturday I visited a conference on ''breastfeeding more than food''
(spoke there myself on disadvantages for the mother of not breastfeeding)
and
heard a very interesting speach by a professor in developmental psychology,
specialised in prenatal psychology. He posed (and scientifically referenced)
just the opposite! Rien Verdult, a Dutch psychologist, living and working in
Belgium at the University of Leuven (Louvain) and his wife Gaby Stroecken
wrote two books on this topic, both just in Dutch, but the outline of his
speech is available in Dutch, French, English and German: Symbiosis and
breastfeeding: the secure attachment of the child, by Rien Verdult, prenatal
psycologist and pshchotherapist (snailmail: Platte-losstraat 418, 3010
Leuven, Belgium. fax: +32.16..350546)
Very read-worthy and food for thought.
