I received this today from Tammy Bretscher:

<<Dear Susan, Amy, Jill, Rita, Patricia, Mary Kay, Joanne, and Mary:

Thank you all so much for your information and concern regarding this baby
who has been being tested for galactosemia.

In a nutshell: 1) yes, all results are now in, and 2) no, baby has no form
of galactosemia or anything else, and 3) based on the baby's complete lack
of symptoms and the information which I forwarded to the mother about
various risks, mother decided not to wean pending receipt of test results;
consequently, 4) baby is healthy and nursing happily, and mother is
enormously relieved. (Me too!)

The information sent to me has been a great help, and very interesting.
(FYI, I also found a fair amount of info by doing an Internet search for
"galactokinase deficiency". Several universities and/or pathology
departments have information available regarding various inborn errors of
metabolism.)

I don't know how much of the information I received came only to me, and how
much was generally available, but I would happily share any and all
particulars with interested parties.

Again--thank you, thank you, thank you!

P. S.: Please post this to TLC and LACTNET for me. Thanks!>>

Rita
