The silver caps are quite popular in Italy (I think that actually most of
them are produced here).
They come from the popular tradition of using silver spoons on the nipple
to heal them.

I, and other LCs, have seen these silver caps producing different results
on different mothers.
On some mothers they help healing and are very effective, while on other
mothers they produce damage, sometimes much worsening the initial
condition.
I could not identify any specific factor associated with the positive or
negative outcome, so I have no explanation nor theory about their
effectivness. In just one case only the mother remembered that she was
probably allergic to silver, as she cannot use silver jewelery.

Warmly,
Micaela
Italy
