I am looking for some articles demonstrating the harm caused by pre and post weights. Originally, only the IBCLC did pre and post weights at a follow up outpatient visit. Over the last six months, I have found nurses doing pre and post weights in the nursery. One nurse is doing it with each feeding. We currently do not have a policy and none of the nurses have been checked off on the procedure. I would like to reign it in on our unit but will need to get buy in from the peds (one pediatrician routinely orders it prior to discharge). I had signed up for Edith's talk in January but got pulled to the floor to work and could not attend. Thank you for your assistance. I have UCSD's protocol but was looking for research articles to use to stop the routine practice.
