Lynn asks if there is anything she should get in to that two hour class.  I would strongly recommend that she bring to these students' awareness of the Maternity Center Association website and especially the Guide to Effective Care During Pregnancy.  Look at their wonderful materials and find some aspect of that website that is related to the stories you are telling.

  Students should be learning about evidenced-based care and this is the source that tells it like it is about the evidence behind many US birth practices.  Not every nursing program has faculty who have any experience in the use of these types of resources.  If we can only get more of our young health care providers to have these resources in their consciuosness perhaps we can make some changes.  I second Lynn's plea to have you contact nursing programs about this sort of volunteer presentation.  Also contact the Human Development departments of your local colleges and offer to speak to these classes.
