I do not think that disagreement equals a lack of professionalism, even
when it is quite impassioned. When I witness lactation debates, I love
watching the fiery intelligence of those minds at work. And it is always a
little frustrating (and predictable) when voices chime in to be "nice".....So
let me be a vote in favor of passionate debate, even when it sometimes
makes people uncomfortable. >>>>>

well said Alison. This makes me think of Kathy Dettwyler and Jack Newman
who I so enjoyed reading on LN - who in their 'hay days' here on LN were
ofttimes, and very refreshingly, to the point, no tip-toeing around, ...it
never seemed "not nice" to me, ...just strong, experience, evidence based, or
personal, opinion.

Pat, I agree there is an issue with re-testing for IBCLC multiple times.
After testing once or twice and re-certing with continuing ed between those
exams, knowledge and ability to keep current is well documented.
