I have permission to post regarding a breastfeeding mother who is getting GEIPE or TENS treatment for a breast cancer tumor. The treatment is going well and shrinking the tumor.
Her concern has to do with what we think is a very persistent plugged duct. The plug first showed up as a nipple bleb at the end of a rope-like lump. Soreness was not much of an issue. After breastfeeding the plug then seemed to move up closer to the bleb, plumping and elongating the nipple-areola. It drained minimally (string-like exudate) with breastfeeding, but now seems to have moved back into the duct, away from the nipple. Bleb is still there. She is applying moist heat, gentle massage, lots of breastfeeding to no avail. She wonders if the electrical stimulation from GEIPE could've contributed to the development of the plug (assuming that's what it is)?
I would very much appreciate any insight or guidance on where to look for an answer.
Please e-mail me personally, since I am nomail just now.
Thanks,
