What is amazing to me isthe MD's comment re: starting solids because the
baby missed out on those nutrients?? When solids are introduced they are
complimentary and a tsp to tbls of any food will not supply any
quanitity of nutrient to a baby. We are seeing a surge of food allergies
and GI diseases and I have to believe a lot of that is due to the last
2-3 generations of indiviudals who had an early introduction to solid
food as well as a lack of human milk in most.

I believe the current recommendation, given the nutritional superiority
of
breastmilk and even artificial milks, over solids, is to start solids at
a
corrected age of approximately 6 months (ie - 6 months from term due
date).

Anyone heard of it? Any opinions?

http://www.hugyourbaby.com/

There are short video clips, and it is similar in some ways to the
Happiest
Baby. I appreciate how it talks about the signs of overstim with a baby.

What I don't like is the pacifier thing (although they do suggest
"talking
to your LC" about pacifier use). And I think they're quick to ignore
feeding
cues, looking instead as a "transition time" between deep sleep and
light
sleep.

Of course, I've only seen small clips, so that's why I'm asking for
input!

Thank you!
