Dear Dr Poinsett,

The recommendation to thaw frozen breastmilk at room temperature comes from
the August 2002 Contemporary Pediatrics (p. 76, the parent handout).

I had never heard that recommendation previously and that was my original
question to lactnet: where did this recommendation come from and is it
safe?

Toni Pestro, RN, BSN, IBCLC
