I have had 3 children all born by caesarean section (first for severe
PIH,second for breech, third as repeat elective). They all were breastfed for
12 months and none of them had any complementary formula feeds. My middle
child in particular was 3860g(8lb8oz) at 38 weeks and was particularly
hungry so I just kept him in bed with me while I was in hospital and he fed
almost constantly. At discharge on day 6 he had only lost 20 grams from his
birthweight - so if I didn't have any milk I don't know how he pulled that
one off!!!
Tell the nursery nurse to try a different story!
Regards,
Madeline Hall (a night shift midwife in Australia)
