Dear Lactnetters,
I am in need of web sites or literature that supports a mom nursing a five year old. Mom doesn't offer or refuse but her young daughter continues to want to nurse occassionally. Usually at night but not every night. Her father has filed for divorice. His grounds are that the mother is harming their daughter by continuining to breastfeed her. Her children were home schooled but she has started school this year. Her daughter is very bright. She is very secure and does not ask to nurse in public but still wants to nurse. Her mother lost a son a couple of years ago and didn't try to wean her because at the time of her loss it did help her through her grief. She and her daughter have talked about her getting bigger and will not need to nurse any longer. Her father wants full custody of her and their 16 year old. 
Mom has started to see a counselor to help support her that she is healthy.
