Cheryl Muller asks where the questionable advice to apply lanolin to the
nipples prophylactically, and time feeds, comes from. The timed feeds bit
comes from a time warp, I'd say. About the lanolin - how about the lanolin
hawker? The only thing likely to be prevented by having all mothers apply
lanolin because they are breastfeeding, is the demise of the lanolin company
and the sales outlets for its product.
Part of knowing about something, is knowing what, if any, tools to use and
when to use them - and when NOT to. Routine use of something that may help
for a minority with a specific problem is not an example of good practice.
