I do just what you did: look for other symptoms for either oversupply or allergy or perhaps even candida. All three may have green stools as a accompanying factor or symptom, but in all three I would want to see at least one more symptom.

As for the remark of the resident: for me this is an other sign over over-medicalising. It is not needed to go the whole journey with every sign of allergy. Just eliminate what seems to trigger symptoms. In the case of soy, however I would be tempted to eliminate cow's milk as well, because the 2 are seen in allergies together a lot.
