Sorry I am still catching up - just got computer back from repair shop. Re
hospitalized baby gets sick, milk is cultured and found to have pathogens:
what about the pump being contaminated, esp. if a shared hosp. pump? i
believe i have read about cultures being taken there or even the hosp
refrigerator or the sink where bottles of ebm are warmed up. the same sink
nurses are washing their hands in and mabye even bathing rinsing some well
babies?
what about fingernails, long fake ones even maybe?
and, Nancy, if you are reading: as the neo, what is then done if the milk is
found to be harboring pathogens? is it still used? treated in some way? the
mother treated for infection? i've also read aobut having the mom wash with
a special soap on her hands and also breasts - like it used to be phisohex?
this would work maybe if it is really the skin that has the bacteria?
systemic tx would have to be used if the milk really is what is infected.
just more food for thought.
also want to say that these ton's of digests i have been reading to catch up
have been awesome! couldn't delete a one.
