I think what your friend is doing is wonderful for her husband.
Exactly what type of pump does she have? Some women just have trouble
letting down for the pump. I Would suggest that she pump on one side while
her daughter nurses on the other, her daughter can illicit the natural
letdown and the pump can collect the milk. Once mom gets more comfortable
with the pump, she will most likely get more milk.

I don't have any articles on this, but I know that a few people on Lactnet
have experience with this. There is also some info in the archives on this
