I remember a few years ago, Dr. Jay Gordon addressed this in a talk.

The apparent key here is the sunlight.

He mentioned that the *only* babies with this trouble were babies of certain
religious sects who wore head-to-toe coverings *and* lived in less sunny
places (I think he mentioned Minn.).  He went on to say that brfed babies who
get enough sunlight are fine.
