To respond to the question of why circumcision is done, and done so early,
when we know that there is a negative impact on breastfeeding:

There is money to be made on circumcision just as there is on any other
cosmetic surgery.  It is less trouble to just do it early when the doc is
at the hospital rounding anyway than to do all of the scheduling and such
to have the baby come back.  I read somewhere that one could purchase a
new european car each year on circumcision profits.....and money made from
them can certainly make a dent in education loans!
