I am wondering if it is possible to combine the two to some extent?

A little background.... my 5 month old daughter started her life co-sleeping with us but when she was 2 months old she decided that she liked her own space and moved to a cot in our room.
She slept through the night from 2 weeks old until a month ago.
She is breastfed but has a dummy due to a non-existant suck reflex when she was born. She is fed on demand ( anything from 6 feeds - 12 a day ) and feeds only from the breast.

About a month ago she had bowel troubles and seemed to be constipated ( she had only gone 4 days without a bowel movement which I know is perfectly normal for a lot of b/f babies but the pain she was experiencing showed that it definitely wasn't 'normal' for her ). She was assessed by the local hospital who gave her a suppository and all seemed well after that.

She has always had problems moving wind and will scream for an hour or more before passing wind.

Since the bowel troubles she is only sleeping around 2-3 hours at night and 2 15 minute naps through the day. I wear her in a wrap through the day but she doesn't fall asleep there.
So, we are off to sleep clinic. She is baby #5 and baby #4 is 19 months old and not walking ( he has a genetic condition ) so surviving on 2 hours sleep a night is simply not an option for us.

My concern is that the sleep clinic will try to 'force' us to let her 'cry it out' which I am very much against.
Does anyone have links to articles etc that show how AP and sleep training can be combined so I can go armed with a scientific argument?

Thanks,

Becca ( Trying to study for IBLCE exam whilst sleep-typing! )
