LLL Founder Betty Wagner Spandikow has been suffering from dementia for
several years, and tonight she died peacefully.

Below are two notes from her daughter, Helen, channeled through different
divisions of LLLI -

All, 

Yesterday we moved my mother into hospice care at the nursing home.  She has
taken a sharp decline and is clearly shutting down.  I just wanted you all
to know so everyone can say a prayer. 

We had a catholic priest come in yesterday afternoon and she has had her
last rites.  We are unsure if she will pass in the next day or two or in
several days.  She is a fighter so just not sure how long she will linger. 

She is comfortable though and still gives you that award winning smile when
she sees you in the room.  That is such a gift.

Finally, tonight's letter to Marian Thompson:

 Marian

 My mother passed away peacefully tonight. We will be holding a 
 celebration of life service, at this time I have not set a date for 
 the event. My mother will be cremated, so I would imagine in 2 
 weeks or so we will hold the service. I will certainly let you know.
