Janice you wrote, "We could and should do market research ourselves."

I disagree. The outcome of a media battle between breastfeeding advocates
and the infant formula industry will not benefit breastfeeding advocacy. There
is no way to win such a campaign against an industry that has billions at its
disposal and the media in its back pocket. And breastfeeding advocacy not
only threatens the infant formula industry, it threatens the pharmaceutical and
dairy industries. As far as I am concerned a media campaign is a waste of
money, time and energy.

When breastfeeding advocates do the market research, who do you think gets
access to those studies? Not just breastfeeding advocates. Who pays for human
milk research? Who funds the Ad Council?

How does the little guy fight the big guy--the guy who has all the money and
the resources? You certainly can't win on the same "ground" as these monied
interests.
Americans won their independence from the British because they refused to
fight out in the open--guerilla warfare. History shows that the little guy has
to fight on different terms, different ground.
