Hello Friends,

I have searched the archives, but I didn't find exactly what I was looking for... I need your expert opinions, please. Most of our (hospital) moms who have had reduction surgery are able to express colostrum from one or both breasts after birth which is very encouraging...but, we don't have as much contact after they are dismissed as we would like to have (FTE issues). 

I understand the mechanism of Lactogenesis II...my question, do most of you start these mothers out pumping after each breastfeeding session (as a matter of policy), or do you "wait" to see if the babies are gaining and their output is sufficient? 

Those first 48-72 hours are so important...I have a hard time with a "wait and see" approach. Even if baby is nursing well, should we be doing more?
