Lisa, maybe the reason you're not cheering, is that with the easy availability of pumps in discount houses, people will pick them up, use them without proper instruction and follow-up, and say "I tried everything, I even bought a
breast pump, but I still couldn't . . .(fill in your own ending).  I have people tell
me that after they bought or rented expensive pumps during a previous pregnancy, for whatever reason.

Again and again and again, the things it takes for successful breastfeeding is
support in this choice, before birth, during the newborn stages and after, by 
family members and professionals alike -- couplets cannot just be abandoned when they leave the hospital's front door.  (or after their first baby check-up,
or whenever).
