As a La Leche League Leader who makes home visits, I think that two hour estimate per visit is just about right. Once in a while the baby is ready to feed shortly after I get there and the problems can be resolved fairly easily and I am done in about an hour, but two hours would be more typical and on occasion I am there for three hours or more. As important as it is to see the baby and determine what's going on, it's equally important to talk with the mother about what is workable for her, and sometimes it takes quite some time to figure out an approach that the mother can handle given her specific circumstances.
(This is when I am glad to be a volunteer and not someone who needs to figure out what to charge or how to justify the time to an employer!)
