I did some consulting for a research group who were looking at contaminats
in Eastern Europe including the Chernobyl area, both placentas and colostrum
were collected in the first 24-48 hours and the colostrum quantities varied
from tablespoons to several ounces.  These samples (>2000) were collected by
hand expression. And the babies were nursing also! CAthy
