Dear Friends,
I am outraged by Similac's new ad. I feel it is stereotyping mothers and
perhaps racist, as well as promoting formula feeding in their quiet
insidious way. I have written a blog post about it.
http://bfcaa.com/is-similac-stereotyping-or-just-all-about-judging-us/ I
am working on another piece about guilt and breastfeeding but no one
really reads my stuff.
I was wondering when the article came out in the New Your Times,
Overselling Breast-feeding, what that was about. Why would a successful
breastfeeding mother bash breastfeeding advocates? I think it was to
pave the way for Similac's new ad. And then a few days ago there was
another piece
http://www.elle.com/culture/news/a31429/government-supports-breast-feeding-moms-longer-than-formula-feeding-moms/
in Elle.
Is it fair for the government to support breastfeeding over formula
feeding?
I feel this is all tied together. All of these are about breastfeeding
crazies making mothers feel bad and apparently now wasting tax payer
money. I want someone, one of you?, with some clout to address this if
possible.
Thank you,
