Good evening...all, from Snowy Vermont.

I wanted to remind you all that subscribers should not be privately or
publicly reprimanded by others for posts made on this list. We have a
volunteer team of list administrators who have been doing this since
Lactnet began...and we continue to watch the tone of the list, in ways that
are hopefully compatible with keeping the list friendly and
informative. Private or public reprimands do nothing but offend and serve
the purpose of "eating your young," as one so aptly put it. Let us not go
there.

"But it has been brought to my attention that I
should apologize to the list for bringing up something that apparently =
was so drastically off topic. I did not expect that everyone would =
share my view or even care for that matter, but I also didn't expect =
some of the rude email I received personally. "

For some of you who feel that the list is not as friendly or supportive as
it used to be, that is sometimes what happens as lists evolve, I guess,
when they have nearly 3000 subscribers. I don't think we are nearly as
nasty as some lists, and I think we do pretty well, all in all.

If we don't, it isn't for want of trying, as they say. I read it every day
and have for the past five YEARS, as a volunteer. : ) ...and I have nice
people who help me, as volunteers.

For those who feel like they have to be the self-appointed list police,
please keep your focus on your own comments, ..and keep your negative
notes to yourselves...focusing on your own work and comments should be
enough work for any of us. We don't need to intimidate or offend in order
for a point to be made.

If anyone has a problem with the list, please let us know at
[log in to unmask] There is no one who should speak for
Lactnet admin besides myself, Kathy Koch, Melissa Vickers, or Karen
Zeretzke at this time. We have not issued any reprimands lately, though I
was about to ask the list to return to breastfeeding from the topic of
autism...though it is a very worthy cause and discussion topic.

Please help us to keep Lactnet a friendly, informative and professional
list, and let's not sink to the level where we need to demand apologies
from each other.
Thanks. Kathleen
