We are having a debate at work:

If a mom gets uncomfortable engorged, should she be told to pump as needed
to soften? or pump to "drain" less often?

The arguments for pumping to drain:
-mom can go longer between pumpings
-baby can latch more easily

The argument for only pumping to soften:
-avoid oversupply

Any research? Or just opinions?

Thanks-
