This weekend, our hospital instituted a new house-wide policy to screen
every patient for need of the pneumococcal vaccine as part of their
discharge planning. Dr. Hale doesn't have it listed in his 2004 book and
the computer isn't letting me get to his message board to post a question
there.
Does anyone have any information about it's use in breastfeeding mothers?
The data sheet that comes with it says not for use in pregnancy and "should
not be given to breastfeeding mothers".
The vaccine is called "Pneumovax".
Thank-you,
