The story of the mother whose baby died in her arms while on a long plane flight remains mysterious. Just to be difficult and raise another variable, I will mention that nothing I have seen so far describes the mother's attire. Some of the garments we have seen touted for 'discreet' breastfeeding could increase the risk of harm to a child because there is cloth around the baby and the mother is less able to see what the baby is doing. Anyone who has followed news reports of how breastfeeding mothers are treated when flying should be forgiven for trying to avoid that kind of attention upon themselves.

But we still don't know what the cause of death was, and won't until there is a coroner's report. The baby might have died of sudden onset sepsis, or of an undiagnosed heart arrhythmia. We don't know yet. Here's hoping we get to learn what the coroner finds, and here's hoping the bereaved mother is in good, loving hands now.
