Abbott Laboratories, based in Abbott Park, Illinois, yesterday more than
doubled the amount of food and medical supplies it is donating, spokesman
Julie Ferguson said. The company is sending $2 million of Similac infant
formula, Ensure and Pedialyte nutritional drinks and ZonePerfect bars, she
said in a telephone interview.

Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., based in New York, is donating medicines and
sending Enfamil infant formula, spokesman Tony Plohoros said yesterday in a
telephone interview.

long article on the disaster - the whole article was NOT about infant
feeding or formula)

ABBOTT PARK, Ill. Aug. 31, 2005

In response to widespread damage throughout the Gulf Coast caused by the
catastrophic hurricane Katrina, Abbott has pledged $2 million in cash
donations and an initial $2 million in nutritional and medical products
to help victims of this disaster. The nutritional products, which are
already being distributed to those in need, were rapidly shipped to
affected areas in response to initial requests from aid organizations
yesterday soon after the disaster struck.

"The effects of this disaster are absolutely devastating. Abbott is
answering the call to assist in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina,"
said Miles D. White, chairman and chief executive officer, Abbott. "Our
thoughts are with all of those who live in the affected areas. We
encourage all of corporate America to help."

Working with disaster relief organizations including the American Red
Cross, AmeriCares, America's Second Harvest and MAP International,
Abbott's initial contributions include cases of pediatric and adult
nutritional products such as Similac(R) infant formula, PediaSure(R) and
Pedialyte(R) nutritional drinks and Ensure(R) and ZonePerfect(R) bars.

(From Mead Johnson:)

Thank you for contacting Mead Johnson (TM), a recognized name in pediatric
nutrition. Along with the rest of the country, we are very concerned for
all of
the families who are affected by this disaster. As a result, Mead Johnson
has
responded to a request from the U.S. Federal Government to assist families
with
infants. Mead Johnson has shipped infant formula totaling more than
$500,000 in
value and is actively working with relief agencies to meet additional needs.
Further, Bristol-Myers Squibb, our parent company, and Mead Johnson have
donated
over $1 million in cash directly to the relief effort.

We are also coordinating efforts with the American Red Cross for additional
infant formula shipments as needed. Our company continues to work with
relief
agency partners to arrange donation and distribution of Bristol-Myers Squibb
medicines as well. In addition, the company has also initiated a matching
funds
program, matching dollar for dollar all monetary donations employees make to
the
American Red Cross for disaster relief from Hurricane Katrina.

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been so drastically affected by
Hurrricane Katrina. We are coordinating resources with the American Red
Cross
because of their extensive experience in relief management. We are
confident in
their ability to assess the needs, provide assistance, and resolve this
terrible
devastation efficiently.

If you have additional questions, Michelle, please let us know. Thank you
for
your interest in Mead Johnson.

Sincerely,

Tonya
