You understood correctly, and I believe most of the RNs I work with have AA
degrees only, although of course some have BA/BS and a few have MS.
However, the RN's value is obvious and has been proven over time.

 Also, despite having an RN program in our town, they are still in demand
and somewhat scarce and that means economically valuable, also.  I
definitely agree the RN's are valuable, and I do not think they are
overpaid at all.  However, I think my education and training are of greater
value.  They certainly cost me more.
