See the La Leche League web site for BFing and the Law.
See the book: Breastfeeding: Biocultural Perspectives, edited by
Stuart-Macadam & Dettwyler. The second chapter is "A Time to Wean: The
Hominid Blueprint for the Natural Age of Weaning in Modern Human
Populations" by Katherine A. Dettwyler. She's a cultural anthropoligist
(PhD). It has 4 pages of references. Basically it's, When would human
babies wean, naturally, if you control for cultural influences? Any
cultural influences, anywhere, not just the US or Africa, or France.
See the book: How Weaning Happens. Sorry, can't put my hands on it quickly.
Beautifully written book covering both mother-led and baby-led weaning with
why's and how's at many different ages.
Hope this helps.
