Hi Cindi,

First of all, lack of daily stooling in an allegedly breastfeeding baby less
that a month old is a clear-cut sign of a problem. Either the baby isn't
getting enough milk, or enough milk is going in but not coming out - an even
bigger problem!

Rule #1 is "Feed the baby." But very close on the heels of feeding the baby
should come a thorough physical exam of this baby for other clinical signs
of thriving or the absence of those signs.

The mom's milk supply is NOT related to her fluid intake. The key is
frequent and thorough removal of milk from her breast by any effective
means, preferably the baby. But if the baby can't do it, or some other issue
prevents the baby from being at breast effectively and thoroughly enough,
then second-best is a pump or hand-expression.

Who is listening to the mother and finding out what SHE wants to do?

You've got your work cut out for you, Cindi. Hope this helps.
