Dear Friends:
Valerie is such a wonderful resource; I always learn a lot about her
posts. Formula IS risky; the idea that scientists are working hard to create
magic in a can instead of garbage in a can is scary.
However, when I am working with a mother who has a low supply, and a
baby who is not thriving and there is no access to human milk yet, how will
it help this already worried and unhappy mother to tell her "we don't know
what to recommend because we don't know what is in it nor how it will react
with your baby?"
I can't see that being helpful either. Seems like it would put the
mother in a double-bind situation......
My thought process behind the recommendation I would make feels like the
best I can do right now. (see my post of 2 days ago). What do you all
suggest?
     Warmly,
