Backed up milk can be washed out of pump parts and all the removable parts
can be sterilized or replaced.  The worry is that viruses, such as herpes,
can be harbored in parts that can not be removed, replaced or sterilized.
Most clients decide against sharing a pump when they hear that explanation.
It's not about selling more pumps; it about safety and efficiency so that
mothers get the benefits for their babies.

I do operated a Medela Rental Station and sell their pumps.
