Lisa: I think this mom may be someone who is very sensitive to TSH levels.
Even though she is within the "norm" some women react negatively to this
level. Has she done a basal thermometer test first thing in the morning
before even getting out of bed? One possibility is to try Kelp, another
would be to get OTC Iosol from Mountain Home Nutritionals. A third
possibility, which is safe while bf and considered diagnostic, is to apply
colored iodine to the abdomen, to the right of the navel, in a quarter size
circle. If it disappears within 48 hours, then the mom is probably iodine
deficient. Have her reapply it the same way until it stays for 48 hours.
NEVER, take anteseptic iodine internally.

Now, onto the prolactin...is the mom sleeping with her baby? If not, please
encourage her to do this with as much skin to skin contact as possible. I
would also teach her infant massage, which has been shown to raise prolactin
levels. Encourage her to carry her baby in a sling or front carrier too.
There are so many little things like this that sometimes get overlooked.
Good Luck. I hope this helps.
