With e-mail especially that four degrees is less.  I met Anne (Altschuler)
through Lactnet, and doing the who-do-you-know, I mentioned, relative to
something else, my bestfriend while I was growing up, and from whom I had
 not heard in 30 years.  I also mentioned that it was after her graduation
from Oberlin that she disappeared.

 Well -  Anne's also an Oberlin grad, looked in her directory (from 1981),
and told me my friend's current whereabouts.  We have been living within 15
 miles from one another for 20 years.  What's that, about 1-1/2 degrees of
separation?
