The work on skin to skin care for preterm infants (Kangaroo Care) has
frequently shown that a side benefit of this type of care is increased
milk production. I am not sure what the current state of research on
this particular aspect of k-care is but I do know that anecdotally, it is
reported again and again by moms who have been able to do skin to skin
care with their infants. I would refer you to the work of Gene Cranston
Anderson and also to Susan Luddington-Hoe. If you want names of specific
references please email me privately.
