I have a mother with bilateral upper nipple sores/scabs from where her 8=20=

month old child's tooth is rubbing. Mother has tried repositioning, which=

is not biting, the tooth is just rubbing and mother is very sore. She nev=

have not been effective ...probably because of the repeated tissue trauma=

Any suggestions? Thanks-Sherry

i have had this same issue w/ two of mine. if they aren't open to a whole
new position, i make sure to keep my arm under their head and adjust it until
the pressure from the teeth is lessened. sometimes this means rotating the
forearm and moving the elbow further away from my hip so the their head is sort
of tipped back more (my current sharp tooth rubber of 17 mos prefers cradle
position) and my hand lies palm up. it only takes very small movements and
adjustments of the arm to make all the difference in the world! i keep a cpl
throw pillows as well as a neck roll handy to help secure it when i find the
perfect angle and position. i have also had much success both personally and w/
other large-breasted mothers i work with in recommending the breast be
bolstered/repositioned w/ a rolled up burp cloth (okay so i actually need a
receiving blanket after bfing for 6 yrs straight now, who's keeping track, right??)
placed underneath. i also urge moms experiencing this to go braless as much
as possible until the sore spot feels better. hope this helps !
congrats to everyone involved in lactnet on the award - i personally think
you should be up for the nobel peace prize for the good you can and do provide
babies and the impact it can and will have on future and current generations
- my hat is off to all of you and i thank you from the bottom of my
milk-pumping heart. :-)

the equivalent of a giant sandwich baggie filled with milk as they have all
tried latching on to any body part they brush up against and suckling furiously
for milk!
