Nikki said: "Why can't we leave the family alone together for a while?"

She just reminded me of my intervention with MY OWN family - my cousin delivered 24 hours before, by c/s, she had never seen her baby (told baby was sleeping and she needed her rest) when I arrived and found 8 people in the room - and no baby.

Called for the baby ("si, puede dormir en el cuarto con mama" - yes, baby can sleep here in the room with mom), and when the baby was brought up I kicked everyone out but mom and dad and baby and put my chair in front of the doorway to protect their privacy.

(This was decades ago in Puerto Rico.)

Unfortunately, in some cases today you STILL need that type of intervention.

At the same time, we need to be aware of this litigious society - what if.... (the baby desats, the baby gets cold, the baby is dropped, etc.) is the hammer (actually guillotine) everyone fears.
