Looking for some advice..
I am just beginning my journey of becoming an IBCLC. I am torn between which pathway to follow. I can follow Pathway 1. Take the courses nearby at a community college and then get lactation specific hours at Lactation Education Resources online or Health e-Learning. Or should I pursue a Bachelors Degree in Maternal and Child Health: Lactation Consulting from Union Institute & University? Has anybody here attended this Online University? If so, what did you think? What has everyone heard of this program? Would this type of degree make an IBCLC more marketable? I would rather not go to school for my RN if I had other choices. Looking to the future, I would like a job that offers steady hours and insurance. Are there jobs out there that can offer that? Are there other degrees, besides MCH and becoming a nurse, that would be helpful for an IBCLC to have? Or just follow Pathway 1? It would take 2 years less than Union, I still earn my IBCLC and if I am interested in something more specific, I can go to school for that.
Thank you for your time and guidance!!
