I personally contracted an acute primary CMV infection in my first
trimester and have since researched/written on the topic fairly
extensively. By the way, my congenitally infected 2 year old is healthy
as a horse and I am still nursing her (and am pregnant again). Please

National Congenital CMV Clearinghouse at Texas Children's Hospital.

Basically, the infant will not contract CMV from breastmilk if she is
already infected in utero (as mine was). If she wasn't infected prior to
birth, the immunities in the breastmilk will both expose her to  CMV and
protect her from contracting CMV during her own future  pregnancies (the
only time, with the exception of immunosuppressed individuals) that CMV
poses a health risk.
